Jim Barringer will speak on the Newspaper Digitization Project. He will have a searchable database available for people to view the type of searches they will have available in their local library, hopefully before October. They have evolved their process several magnitudes and have improved OCR recognition by 16.2 % and reduced the finished size by 40 - 65 % by converting the images to grayscale images. He looks forward to bringing our group up to date, and has a lot to say and show us about the digitization process.
