GSMC February Meeting

"William Bolles' Harbor and the Pleasant Bay" by Lynn W. Reaume
Situated on LaPlaisance Creek and Bay, Bolles Harbor grew out of William Bolles' vision for a lakeside development like the ones he saw in Florida. But before him others had seen a vision of a bustling business harbor and site for shipping on the Great Lakes. This program includes early history of the French claims and Bay, the steps leading up to development, the community association, several early and distinctive buildings, and the Monroe Boat Club.

Lynn Reaume specializes in Catholic records research and French-Canadian families, local history, and worked in the Monroe County Museum archives, as Educational Coordinator, and is now Curator of Programs. She has worked for the museum for 21 years.

As always, our meetings are open to the public.
